How Can Ants Carry So Much?

Ants might be tiny, but they are super strong for their size! Most ants can carry objects 10 to 50 times their own weight, which amounts approximately to 500mg.

Why are they so strong? It’s because of their small size and special body structure. As creatures become smaller, they have more strength compared to their weight. Also, ants have lots of muscles squeezed into their tiny bodies.

If you weigh about 30 kilograms (like a 12-year-old might), and had an ant’s strength, you could lift objects weighing 300 to 1,500 kilograms. That’s like lifting 10 to 50 other kids your age!

So, when you see an ant carrying a big crumb, it’s showing off its tiny but mighty muscles.
